This guide wasn't originally planned.
It came about after one of our recent Aqua Instructor Edge mentoring sessions...
We explored fast-twitch muscle fibres, muscle power and why this type of training becomes so important as we age.
During our discussion, we talked about how I would introduce this topic to my own participants. I don't just ask them to move faster or work harder. I explain why it matters.
When participants understand why they're being asked to move with speed and purpose, doing something that feels challenging suddenly has meaning.
It gives the effort a purpose, and that's often the difference between simply going through the motions and truly embracing the exercise.
After the session, several members said, "I'd love to be able to explain this to my participants."
So I created this guide.
It was my way of helping instructors take what we'd learnt together and confidently share that knowledge with the people they teach.
Because I believe when participants understand why they're doing something, they're far more willing to embrace the challenge.
And that's where real change begins.
